I'm lucky enough to be in the situation where I make the rules for what happens with all of our programming laptops.
This is why IT should be beaten with a large stick any time they come near a PLC programming laptop. So I'll park this week and all its shenanigans to one side for now. So I'm not finished yet it seems?īut it's Friday and nearly home time. This is similar to what went on with Studio 5000 Pro only Activating as Mini Edition. So instead I had to write some programming in RSLogix 5000 offline and then import it to the v23 Studio 5000 project later when they were finished.Īnother thing I've since noticed is that my RSLogix 500 Pro Edition v9 is now opening and Activating as Standard Edition. I really needed it live on the floor to make some additions and edits to a running v23 system. This meant leaving the docked workstation to them for the day (yesterday) and I had use one of the other programming workstations which had not got Studio 5000 on it, just RSLogix 5000 up to v20. So I then had to get onto the companies European Support department to sort it all out. which would keep popping up every 30 seconds or so. It installed fine and apart from the "Whitewash" that is Office 2013, it was working okay.Īfter I uninstalled and reinstalled Studio 5000 versions I started getting some Visual Studio error about AppInstall.exe, etc. These are automatic and forced updates done globally across all plants. This week I also had the pleasure of IT updating the same workstation to Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2013. I'm definitely having an "Ailing Badley" week thus far. Today I had endless DH-485 problems on an SLC network and a PV550 also died for good measure. Three Support departments and Assistants later and finally they got that sorted, even though I think I figured it out for them in the end. I then realized today that my serial number would now not qualify for updates and back I had to go. I said right, no messing around here with my precious time, and opened a Chat Session with Support.Ģ Days later (Monday and Tuesday of this week) and finally they got my Pro Edition Activated again. When I then reinstalled v26 and v27 they would not Activate. So I had to uninstall both v26 and v27 (but not v24) just to install v23. v23 would not install because v26 or v27 had installed newer versions of "stuff". I had Pro Edition v21, v24, v26 and v27 all installed. I hadn't got Studio 5000 v23 installed but needed it this week. Yes, the RSLogix 5000 v20.04 release was a long time coming, but inevitable I feel.
